The same three days, every week, on time
Dialysis is not an appointment you reschedule. Missing a session is a medical event, and for patients whose ride is unreliable, the calendar becomes the most stressful thing in their life. That is the problem a standing schedule solves.
We set your chair times once — Monday, Wednesday, Friday, or Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday — and the ride repeats without anyone calling to re-book. Pickup times are built backward from the chair time, not forward from whenever a driver is free. Return pickups are scheduled for after treatment ends, with the understanding that dialysis days run long and patients come out drained.

DaVita centers in the Decatur and DeKalb area
DaVita operates dialysis centers throughout the Decatur and DeKalb area and more broadly in Decatur and select areas of Atlanta. We run to those clinics from homes, assisted living communities, skilled nursing facilities, and group homes inside our service area.
Tell us your patient's clinic and their chair time, and we will confirm whether it fits our standing schedule board. If it does not, we will say so up front rather than accept a booking we cannot keep — a dialysis patient does not need another provider who over-promises.
Wheelchair and stretcher capable
Most dialysis riders travel by wheelchair van: ADA ramp, secured chair, door-through-door from their living room to the clinic door and back. That is our highest-volume trip.
But some dialysis patients cannot sit upright for the ride, and this is where families run out of options. Many providers will not take a stretcher dialysis patient at all. We do. Stretcher trips run with two trained attendants, the patient stays lying flat through the transfer and the ride, and the crew hands off at the clinic door. If your loved one has been turned down for stretcher transportation elsewhere, that is the exact trip we specialize in.
How insurance billing works for dialysis rides
Heart2Heart bills insurance for medically necessary transports such as dialysis, wound care and emergency-department related trips. Coverage depends on the patient's plan and is never guaranteed, and we do not bill Medicaid.
Not after the first ride, not retroactively — before. Trips run without authorization in place are private pay, and we tell you that before we dispatch rather than after you get a bill. Heart2Heart bills insurance for medically necessary transports such as dialysis, wound care and emergency-department related trips. Coverage depends on the patient's plan and is never guaranteed, and we do not bill Medicaid. Rides booked and paid for directly on this website are paid by card at booking.
Heart2Heart does not accept Medicaid or managed-Medicaid products under any circumstances. If dialysis rides are covered through a Medicaid plan, that plan's own transportation broker is the right route, and we will say so plainly.
- Commercial insurance — billable for dialysis with prior auth on file
- Medicare and qualifying Medicare Advantage — billable for dialysis with prior auth
- Medicaid and managed Medicaid — not accepted, ever
- Every non-dialysis trip type — private pay, no exceptions
How clinic social workers refer patients
Clinic social workers and patient-care coordinators are usually the ones who discover a patient's ride has fallen apart. Our referral path is built for them: submit the scheduling details — clinic, chair days, chair time, mobility level, and a contact for the patient or family — and we take it from there without asking for any patient health information.
We confirm capacity, contact the family about payment or authorization, and get the standing schedule set. The social worker gets a yes or no quickly instead of chasing a dispatcher for a week.
What patients and families should have ready
If you are paying privately, the trip calculator gives you the exact per-trip cost for your route, and you can multiply from there for a weekly picture. Private-pay trips are paid by card; call dispatch at (678) 696-1583 with payment questions.
- Clinic name and chair days and times
- Pickup address, plus gate codes or building access details
- Mobility level: ambulatory, wheelchair, or stretcher
- Insurance card, if you plan to have the ride billed
- A phone number that is answered on treatment mornings
