How booking works
You can price and book a trip yourself in a few minutes. Enter your pickup address and your doctor's address in the trip calculator, choose your vehicle, and you will see an itemized price — base rate, mileage, any add-ons — before you commit to anything. If you would rather talk to a person, call dispatch and we will build the trip with you over the phone.
For a routine appointment, 24 to 48 hours of notice gets you the pickup window you want. Same-day requests are often possible in DeKalb County and intown Atlanta; call and we will tell you honestly what is available today rather than promising a vehicle we do not have.

Door-through-door is the whole point
A rideshare ends at the curb. For a lot of our riders, the curb is exactly where the trip gets dangerous — the front steps, the clinic's heavy door, the long walk from the drop-off zone to the check-in desk. Door-through-door means our driver comes to your door, helps you out of the house, gets you settled in the vehicle, and walks you all the way in at the other end.
It is included on every ride, not sold as an upgrade. So is the comfort package — blanket, climate control, bottled water — and one companion riding free, which matters when a spouse or adult child needs to be in the room for the appointment.
Round trips: wait-and-return, or two one-ways
If your appointment is short and predictable — a lab draw, an injection, a fifteen-minute follow-up — a wait-and-return round trip keeps the same driver and vehicle with you, so you are not waiting on a new dispatch when you are finished. If the appointment is long or open-ended, like an infusion or a procedure with recovery time, booking two one-way trips is usually the better value. The calculator prices both so you can see the difference before choosing.
Recurring appointments
Physical therapy twice a week, an oncology series, a wound care schedule, monthly injections — these are the trips where reliability compounds. We set up recurring bookings so the same trip repeats on your schedule without you rebuilding it each time. For riders with a standing weekly schedule, our membership plans bundle a set number of covered rides per month, which lowers the effective cost per ride compared with booking one at a time.
What it costs, and what it does not cover
Doctor appointment transportation is a private-pay service. Heart2Heart bills insurance for medically necessary transports such as dialysis, wound care and emergency-department related trips. Coverage depends on the patient's plan and is never guaranteed, and we do not bill Medicaid. Heart2Heart does not accept Medicaid under any circumstances.
Pricing is the same published structure as every trip: $180 base plus $9.60 per mile for a wheelchair van, $420 base plus $13.20 per mile for a stretcher van, $450 base plus $15 per mile for a BLS ambulance, and a $100 minimum. Optional add-ons are Lift Assist at $75, an Extra Stop priced at your vehicle's base fare per stop (wheelchair $180, stretcher $420, BLS ambulance $450) plus the added mileage, and additional companions at $25 each after the first free. A pharmacy run on the way home is the most common extra stop.
Where we go
Our base is on Candler Road in Decatur, so the DeKalb County medical corridor is home ground: the Emory Decatur Hospital area, specialist offices around Church Street and North Decatur Road, clinics in Avondale Estates, Scottdale, Clarkston, Tucker, and Stone Mountain. Trips into the city — Emory and Grady campuses, Midtown specialists, downtown Atlanta medical offices — are routine. Addresses beyond our primary fifteen-mile zone carry an extended-area fee, calculated once from whichever end of the trip is farthest from base and shown on your quote before you pay.
